About Freemason Numbers

§ 02

Freemason numbers, also known as Gematria numbers, refer to a system of numerology used within Freemasonry, a fraternal organization that emphasizes moral and spiritual values. This system assigns numerical values to the letters of the alphabet, allowing words or phrases to be converted into numbers, which are then used for various symbolic, ritualistic, or meditative purposes. The term Gematria originates from the Hebrew word גימטריה (Gematria), which means "geometric" or "calculation." In Hebrew, the practice is deeply rooted in Jewish mysticism and has been adopted and adapted by Freemasonry. Similarly, in French, the term is nombres maçonniques, and in German, it is Freimaurerzahlen. The use of these numbers is often tied to the esoteric and symbolic aspects of Freemasonry, where numbers are believed to hold hidden meanings and connections to the divine or the universe. For example, the number 3 is significant in Freemasonry, representing the Great Architect of the Universe, while the number 7 is associated with the seven liberal arts and sciences. This numerological system is one of the many tools used by Freemasons to explore the deeper meanings of their rituals and symbols.
