About Sls

§ 02

The Space Launch System (SLS), also known as the Block 1, is a super heavy-lift expendable launch vehicle under development by NASA. It is intended to replace the retired Space Shuttle and serve as the primary launch vehicle of NASA's deep space exploration plans, including the Artemis program. The SLS is designed to carry the Orion spacecraft, as well as other payloads, to the Moon and potentially to Mars. The SLS is part of NASA's plan to return humans to the Moon by 2025 and eventually to Mars. The SLS is also known as מערכת שיגור חלל (Misrad Shigur Chalal) in Hebrew, Système de lancement spatial in French, and Sistema de Lanzamiento Espacial in Spanish. The SLS is designed to evolve into more powerful configurations, with the final Block 2 configuration capable of lifting over 130 metric tons to low Earth orbit, exceeding the lift capability of the Saturn V rocket.
