Snow Pea

The snow pea (Pisum sativum var. macrocarpon), also known as the sugar pea, is a variety of pea eaten whole with the pod. Unlike garden peas, the pods of snow peas are edible, and the peas inside are small and sweet. Snow peas are commonly used in Asian cuisine, particularly in stir-fries, and are known for their crisp texture and mild flavor. In Hebrew, the snow pea is called פיסום סוכרי (pisum sukhari). In French, it is referred to as pois mange-tout, while in Spanish, it is known as arveja chata or guisante azucarero. Snow peas are typically harvested before the peas inside fully mature, ensuring the pods remain tender. They are a good source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as dietary fiber.
