Tadeusz Kościuszko

Tadeusz Kościuszko (Polish: Tadeusz Kościuszko; Lithuanian: Tadas Kosciuška; Belarusian: Тадэвуш Касцюшка; 4 February 1746 – 15 October 1817) was a Polish-Lithuanian military engineer, statesman, and national hero of Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, and the United States. He is widely regarded as a national hero in Poland and Lithuania for his role in the Kościuszko Uprising of 1794, and in the United States for his significant contributions to the American Revolutionary War. Kościuszko's legacy is deeply rooted in his commitment to the principles of liberty and independence, as well as his efforts to abolish serfdom and promote social equality. His name is often associated with the phrase "For Your Freedom and Ours," which encapsulates his lifelong dedication to the cause of freedom.
